Biljana Milanović, musicologist, graduated (1992) and completed her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade (2004).

Research fields: Serbian music of the 20th century, music-drama and symphony genres, modernism, music and Balkanism, collective identities, nationalism, ethnicity.

She has published in scholar and expert journals, as well as in collections of papers in Serbian, English, French and Greek. She has contributed to the book A Patch to Western Music History. Serbian and Greek Art Music (Intellect Books, Bristol, UK, Chicago, USA, 2009). Her master’s thesis is the monograph study dedicated to the music and literary works of Milenko Paunović.

She was a member of the bilateral project Serbian and Greek music. A comparative study (2005– 2007) of the Institute of Musicology of the SASA and the Music Department of the University in Athens. Within the project Studying, editing and publishing Serbian music heritage of the Departtment for Stage Art and Music of Matica srpska in Novi Sad she prepared the edition of the score The First Yugoslav Symphony – at Lipar by Milenko Paunović (2009).

She was an expert editor of the magazine Pro musica (2000–2001). She has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Musicology since its foundation (2001), and a member of the Management Board of the Musicological Society of Serbia since its foundation (2006).
